How to Publish
Your Book
Writing a brief, 2-page
Book Proposal can be
the key to getting your
first book
 continued>>
Once you've written your book
proposal
or query letter, be sure to
remember to read it over to make
sure it does what it's supposed to
do.  Basically, that is:

(a) Introduces the book or article
that you plan on writing, and gives
the title of your book or article.

(b) Gives
a brief overview of what
your book, story or article will be
about.  Make sure you mention all
the key points here.

(c) Lists the approximate
number
of words
that you think your
published book
, story or article will
be.

(d) Provides a brief
Author's
Background
, or gives some
information about you, the author.
After all, if you're going to
publish
your book
, the publisher is going
to want to know a little bit about
you, such as what qualifies you to
write the book.

(e) Describes the book's appeal.
When
your book is published,
who will read it?  Make sure you
include a brief section in
your
book proposal
or query letter to
describe your potential market,
and why you feel they will want to
read
your book.

(f) Mentions similar books.  If you
want to
publish your book, its
always a good idea to mention
other,
similar books in the genre
that have been
published.  This
further establishes that there will
be readers for the book you are
writing and trying to
get published.

(g)  Enclose a
sample chapter or
two, to show the
publisher that
your book is being written, and to
demonstrate your writing skills.

All of these points will ensure you
write a good book proposal, which
will greatly enhance your chances
of
publishing your book.
